Putting ICE On Your Mobile Phone
July 5, 2007
ICE (In Case of Emergency) is a smart idea Awesome Mom and I have been using for some time.
Essentially, you are identifying in your cell phone the primary contacts for emergency workers to call in case you are injured.
Think about it. If you were in a car accident and couldn’t speak, the emergency workers might look at your cell phone and not be able to figure out who to call if the names all say things like: “Tom” “Mensch” or “BootyCall”
Here’s what the ICE campaign recommends:
- Open up your address book in your cell phone
- Create New Contact
Address features will vary by cell phone make and model- Contact name should be ICE
You can add more ICE contacts by using ICE-William, etc. It is recommended that you do not put the relationship (ie. ICE-Wife) rather just the person’s name.- Enter in Contact’s phone number
This may replace an existing contact- Affix the ICE StickerTM
Visual alert for emergency personnel to indicate you have an ICE available.
You can buy ICE stickers for yourself or for a community program.
I hope you find this useful.
