Labradoodles?

October 11, 2007

I was contacted by the administrator of Labradoodles Australia. This mobile site is your source for…well… Labradoodles, of course!

Open question to our online chums down under: Is there a demand for Labradoodles? I never heard of them before.

Here in the states, some people raise Alpacas, these freakishly llama-like things, in order to sheer the wool off them and mow the lawns. But I might be comparing apples to oranges, here.

Thanks in advance if you can enlighten me.

There’s a big demand for them here. At least enough for many breeders to make some money out of. They’re a cross between Labrador and Poodle, but too much poodle in them for my liking. People (at least in Oz) seem to enjoy crossing poodles with other breeds. There’s also the Spoodle (I kid you not), the cross poodle and cocker spaniel.

C’mon Bad Dad, break the mold. Get a Labradoodle. I’m sure you could shear it if you wanted to.

(Feel free to edit out this next sentence) I’ve actually thought of crossing a Shih Tzu with a Poodle but that would make it a shitpoo so I think I’ll leave that one alone…

Oh, man, I quickly googled and discovered someone already came up with that last idea, although they genteely named it a Shih Pu.

With a planet of 6 billion, probably 1% independently came up with the name Shih Pu. No wonder I’m having such a hard time coming up with names for my next Interweb venture.

    Thanks for the insight!

From my extremely llimited understanding, the biggest benefit for Labradoodles is that they inherit the same “non-allergic” qualities of the poodle and put it in a bigger, more man-friendly dog.

That, and you can milk them.

I heard their milk tastes like dog biscuits. Is that true Molk?

Got something to say?
