Dad Gone Mad? Or Role Model For Us All?
January 23, 2008
Tom Cruise doesn’t know the meaning of the word failure. Sure it’s easy to nitpick Tom and Scientology from afar. But is what Tom says really crazy? Or is it ideally what we all wish life to be?
According to Tom:
“When you drive past an accident…you know you have to do something about it. You know you’re the only one who can really help.”
“I’m carrying my load. As much as I’m carrying, I still feel like I’ve got to do more.”
“You can see the look in their eyes. You know the ones who are doing it, and you know the spectators, the ones who are going, ‘Well, it’s easy for you.’ That thing, I’ve cancelled that in my area… You’re either in or you’re out. That spectatorism, I’ve no time for it. That is something we have no time for now.”
“I want to know that I’ve done everything I could every day I think of all those people out there who are depending on us. I think about it. It does make me feel we need more work, more help. Get those spectators in the playing field, or out of the arena”
At face value, those are not really crazy thoughts at all. Wish I had that kind of passion. But then he puts his foot in his mouth:
“We are the authorities of getting people off drugs. We are the authorities of the mind. Authorities of improving conditions. We can rehabilitate criminals. We can bring peace and unite cultures.“
Say what?
Why don’t you judge the video for yourself:
What do you think? Crazy man? Passionate father? A man of conviction not afraid to live by example?
